Sustainability Virtually every activity undertaken has an impact on our environment. All materials used in construction have an embodied energy, energy used in the extraction, refining and manufacture of materials. This energy is as significant as that used to run, service and maintain a building throughout its lifetime. Materials and technology exist to produce ‘ultra low energy’ super insulated homes and payback periods for costs associated with adopting these methods and materials are continually reducing. There is massive concern over the impact that energy consumption and waste gasses are having on our climate. It is notable that, even in temperate Britain, extreme weather conditions are becoming more frequent. Architecture Limited recognise the need, through design and specification of materials, to reduce the impact that our industry has on the environment. We have a keen interest in sustainability issues and are currently involved in innovative projects utilising alternative construction techniques and materials.
